During the walk, you’ll discover the picturesque streets of the Stokstraat quarter, the charming Onze Lieve Vrouweplein square, and the famous Vrijthof square. You’ll also see the city ramparts, the Helpoort, and the Jeker quarter. Discover the quality of Dutch wines during a wine tasting at the Apostelhoeve!
The Dutch wine tradition has its origins in Roman times, after the Middle Ages the Dutch wine tradition made way for other forms of agricultural activity. In 1970 the first vines returned to the southern slopes of the Jekerdal, at the Apostelhoeve. The Apostelhoeve, one of Limburg’s most beautiful spots on top of the Louwberg, is home to the oldest and one of the largest wine estates in the Netherlands.
The Apostelhoeve wine estate currently consists of 20 hectares, where 5 different grape varieties have been planted: Müller-Thurgau, Auxerrois, Riesling, Pinot Gris and since 2020 also Viognier.
Included: tour, wine (3 glasses),bites and transport by bus from Maastricht city center.
